Project Update - Jun/Jul 2025
The 30,000 trees project is helping to regenerate deforested land by building micro-nurseries in Cambodia, growing native forest trees and introducing sustainable income generation for the rural population.
While weather patterns across the world reach extreme levels, our dedicated team have been taking advantage of Cambodia’s rainy season to germinate a small forest in our first micro-nursery. 470 trees have been germinated, and a partner programme donated a further 4,000 trees. Despite some challenges, we can confidently say that our milestone of establishing the first working nursery is complete.
One challenge we have encountered is seed supply; native tree seeds are not readily available for purchase in Cambodia, and therefore, all seeds must be collected from the right trees at the right time. We now have an action plan to collect seeds from 10 native forest trees and 5 fruit trees. We will also establish a seed-sharing scheme to help other projects.
Over the next two months, our compost bins will be filled with abundant materials, allowing us to enrich our soil health. We will also begin planting our zero-dig vegetable area, which is very exciting.
We are honoured to have all our supporters on this journey. Together, we have mobilised an entire community, and the positive results are already very real. Big thanks from Simon, Sreyrath, Ratana and the team.
